You boldly made an entrance
There at supper-time
Underneath the suet cage
The scene of this May day crime
The guarding crows alarmed
Caw cawing cacophony
They knew this little masked villain
Was out to take suet away
Crouching down at the plant-pot
Thinking no one could see
Waiting whilst liking your lips
At the cage displaying your tea
After 2 or 3 minutes
You jumped up risking the lot
Just as our son took aim
Pretending to fire a shot
You peered around the corner
Looking closely at Crow’s retreat
Before reaching even higher
Standing up on tiny feet
Raccoon I want to like you
Is it too much to ask
If next time you come to visit
You smile and take off your mask?
I’m trying to see your cuteness
I look curiously in vain
But frankly I’d be happier
If we never meet again
(I’m working at overcoming my fear of these creatures , along with spiders ,I know they’re all God’s handiwork, uniquely beautiful and to be appreciated 🦝🕷️)
